Dehradun is the capital city of Uttarakhand, a hilly north Indian state. Situated at the foothills of the Himalayas, Dehradun is a beautiful city which is a fine blend of a busy city and a picturesque hill station. Famously known as gateway to well known hilly areas of Mussoorie and Garhwal. Dehradun is one of the oldest Indian cities. It is also recognized as the hub of education of North India. This city has been ruled by Mughal, Sikh as well as Gurkha rulers in the past. Later on, several educational institutions of repute were established in this city. By Air

By Railways

Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest railhead of the Northern Railways .The railway station is situated at a distance of about 2 km from the city center. Major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Varanasi, Ujjain and Indore are connected by regular as well as frequent train services from the main city. You can have regular buses as well as taxi right from the railway station.

By Road

State owned Uttarakhand transport corporation provides regular bus service from the main city towards several cities. The buses facilities also connect Dehradun to the Kashmere Gate in New Delhi. Deluxe A/C bus ,Volvo and various other categories of buses are provided by the Uttarakhand Tourism from New Delhi to Dehradun.
